Hardly there is anyone on this planet who is unaware of the term global warming. The “global warming” and “climate change” are certainly the burning issues at this juncture. The temperatures of the planet are rising due to which several devastating impacts are coming on the surface. Let me explain first in brief about the global warming. The burning of the fossils fuels for our vehicles, industrial plants and other activities are considered as the main factors for the emission of greenhouse gases. These gases include carbon, nitrogen, sulphur, methane, etc which pollute the atmosphere. These gases have the ability to trap sun’s radiation coming to earth. In case, if these gases are absent, there would not be any heating up of the surrounding environment. These gases have the ability to trap the sun’s radiation which would emit back otherwise.
This heating of the environment is offering several devastating impacts. In fact, it is destroying our biodiversity. Earth is a beautiful planet which harbours several species of plants and animals. The increasing temperatures of the surrounding has taken some of the species on the brink of extinction. If we talk of birds, then these are severally suffering from climate change. Due to global warming, the season cycle has changes. It is, in fact, extending and disturbing the overall migration cycle of the migratory birds.
One of the impact of global warming is the warming of the oceans. This is adversely affecting the marine life. The solubility of oxygen is less in water. Due to which the oceans are lacking in oxygen, causing the migration of the fishes and other water animals. This migration is actually affecting the whole food chain. Further, their natural habitat is experiencing environmental changes at rapid pace. These animals don’t have ability to adapt to conditions so they are getting more susceptible to diseases. The acidification of oceans is also affecting coral reefs which is considered as an important element to sea food chain.
Global warming is actually causing the natural habitat loss for millions of species. The natural surroundings of the species are getting disturbed due to these atmospheric conditions. Being less sensitive to the environment changes, these species are getting on the brink of extinction.
In order to conserve the biodiversity of the planet, the global community should take some stern steps. The authorities should put a restriction on the deforestation. Further, conservatory should be developed so as to preserve the species which are, in fact, on the brink of extinction. Apart from this, the global community should also look for alternative sources of energy. We, as responsible citizens to Mother Earth, should start using green technology products. There is a famous saying that charity begins at home. We should follow this and start using LED lights at our homes and houses. Further, we should either use Electric Vehicles or start using public transport so that there should be less emission of greenhouse gases. Last but not least, spread awareness about global warming as much as you can.
