April 22nd is observed as Earth Day by approx. 192 countries to demonstrate how much we care about the future of our planet. Most of you must be aware of the fact that Mother Earth is witnessing several problems related to ecological disturbances. These problems are further affecting the biodiversity and have also taken some species on the verge of extinction. Earth Day 2018 has special importance owing to the fact that the problems like global warming, climate change, and ecological disturbances are reached to the peak and its time to take action as an individual or as a global community to stop these problems.
Since the commencement of industrialization, the earth is facing problems related to global warming. The burning of the fossil fuels is marked with the problems associated with greenhouse gas emissions which trap radiation and make the atmosphere hotter. This single effect causes multiple environment-related problems like changing of climate, warming oceans, ecological disturbance, suffocating oceans and much more.
On Earth Day 2018 – What should we pledge?
Go Green – It’s time to start using Eco-friendly products. You can personally put efforts to save this beautiful planet by using LEDs, electric vehicles, reusable, etc. If we talk of LEDs, then they are based on advanced technology and are also energy efficient. By using these, we save electric power. The overall result would be less emission of carbon in the process of electricity generation.
Start using public transport & electric cars – One of the main cause of global warming is the burning of the fossil fuels. You can help in saving this planet by avoiding using petrol and diesel vehicles. It would be great if you start using public transport or switch to electric cars.
Renewable – The fossil fuels are exhaustible sources of energy and further main contributor to global warming. It is the call of the hour for the global community to switch to renewable sources of energy like solar, tidal, wind, etc. As an individual, we should start using solar panels and other products as a source of energy.
Plant Trees – As a responsible citizen of this planet, we should plant as many trees as possible. Not only will these trees help in the purification of air but also help in preventing soil erosion. These are also homes for different species of birds. So, they will also get the place to nest.
Avoid Plastic – Despite recycling efforts, 85 percent of plastic waste gets thrown away. So, it’s time to say goodbye to plastic waste.
Spread Awareness – The debate is going around that there is nothing like climate change and global warming. You should voluntarily spread awareness about the problems associated with global warming. Make people understand that it is not a myth but a reality.
